Choosing an expense app means comparing: what each one does, what it charges and what it lacks. Here are Kesef's comparisons with the apps people look up by name, made with one fixed rule: every claim about another app comes from its own site, carries a date, and if the other app is better at something, we say so.
The comparisons
- Best expense tracker appWhat's the best expense tracker app in Argentina? No best app for everyone: a checklist of what an app has to handle in Argentina (Mercado Pago, instalments, two currencies, groups) and how Kesef does it.
- Kesef vs SplitwiseKesef or Splitwise: which one fits how you split expensesSplitwise splits bills and nothing else. Kesef splits them and tracks your own spending too. Compared with sources and a date, and where Splitwise wins.
- Kesef vs TricountKesef or Tricount: split one trip, or track expenses all yearTricount is free and does one thing very well. Kesef splits expenses and tracks yours too. Compared with sources and a date, and where each one wins.
How they're made
- First-hand sources: the other app's site, help centre or store listing. No blogs repeating numbers from other blogs.
- A visible review date. Another app's prices and limits change without notice, and an undated comparison goes stale without anyone noticing.
- Where the other app wins. A comparison where Kesef wins everything is useless for deciding, and it isn't true either.
- Only apps with their own searches. If nobody searches for "Kesef vs X", there's no comparison with X.
If you spot an outdated fact in a comparison, write to us: we'll fix it and update the date.
Frequently asked questions
Why are there only comparisons with Splitwise and Tricount?
Because they're the apps people compare with Kesef when searching by name. Both handle shared expenses, which is one of the things Kesef does. Comparisons get added when search demand for another app shows up, not before.
Are the comparisons up to date?
Each one shows the date the other app's data was checked and the sources it comes from. If you're deciding based on a comparison, it's worth confirming prices and limits on the other app's site: they change without notice.
Is Kesef worth it if I use a spreadsheet today?
It depends on what you use it for. The spreadsheet wins on flexibility and on already being set up; an app wins on logging from your phone in the moment, on expenses that log themselves with Mercado Pago or Apple Pay, and on groups. The blog post "Spreadsheet or expense app?" compares both cases.
