Wallet, BudgetBakers' app, and Kesef do the same job: show you where your money goes. The difference is how expenses get in. Wallet bets on connecting your bank accounts, which is part of its Premium plan. Kesef doesn't connect to banks: expenses come in by hand, by voice, from a photo or your statement, or on their own with Mercado Pago and Apple Pay. The detail is below, with what Wallet says on its site and help centre, and where it's better.
The short answer
If your bank is one Wallet connects to and you want transactions to arrive on their own, or you need a web version, Wallet has that with its Premium plan. Check in the app that your bank is on the list: its site talks about 15,000+ institutions worldwide without saying which.
If you pay with Mercado Pago, buy in instalments, or share expenses with your partner without both of you paying, Kesef handles that: instalments and groups are free, and Mercado Pago logs itself with Kesef Pro.
Side by side
| Kesef | Wallet | |
|---|---|---|
| Free plan | Uncapped logging, groups, recurring expenses and instalments. With ads | Manual logging is free; bank syncing is Premium |
| Paid tier | Kesef Pro: USD 5 per month, USD 35 per year (14-day trial on the yearly plan) or USD 100 for life | Premium monthly, yearly or lifetime; prices show in the app, not on its site |
| Bank connection | Doesn't connect to banks | Yes, with Premium: 15,000+ institutions worldwide, per its site |
| Mercado Pago | Yes, with Kesef Pro: payments log themselves, in 7 countries | No data |
| Apple Pay | Yes, with Kesef Pro: iPhone payments log themselves through a Shortcuts automation | Yes, through a Shortcuts automation; whether it's Premium: no data |
| Pesos and dollars | 150+ currencies, converted automatically when logged | Yes, with automatic exchange rates |
| Instalments | Yes, free: each instalment in its month, with a reminder the day before | No data |
| Voice logging | Yes, with Kesef Pro (3 free uses in total) | No data |
| Photo or PDF entry | Photo, screenshot or statement image: 3 free uploads in total. Unlimited and PDF, with Kesef Pro | No: its help centre says it doesn't read statements or documents. Imports CSV, XLS or OFX files |
| Shared expenses as a couple | Yes, free for both: a group with the balance of who owes whom | Yes, with Premium for whoever creates the group: they share their accounts, and invitees don't need Premium |
| Web version | No | Yes |
"No data" means Wallet's site and help centre don't say, not that it lacks the feature. Wallet doesn't publish Premium prices on its website: they show up when you open the subscription in the app.
The real difference: your bank, or your payments
Wallet reads the transactions in your bank accounts once you connect the bank, which is Premium. If your bank is on its list, it's the most convenient way to have everything arrive on its own, transfers and withdrawals included.
Kesef doesn't connect to banks. Payments log themselves in other ways: by linking Mercado Pago, or with the Apple Pay automation on iPhone, both with Kesef Pro. Everything else is logged by hand, by voice, from a photo of the receipt or by uploading your card statement, which also adds the remaining instalments of each purchase.
And groups work differently. In Wallet, group sharing is Premium and the owner shares their accounts with the others. In Kesef, a group is free for everyone who joins, and each expense is split among the right people, with the balance of who owes whom.
Where Wallet is better
- It connects to banks, with Premium: 15,000+ institutions worldwide, per its site. Kesef doesn't connect to banks.
- It has a web version as well as the app. Kesef has no web version.
- It imports CSV, XLS or OFX files from another app or a spreadsheet. Kesef only imports its own template or a Kesef backup.
If your bank is on its list and you want everything to come from the account, or you need to use it from a computer, Wallet is the one with that.

- You'd rather not give an app access to your bank.
Choose Wallet if…
- Your bank is one it connects to and you want transactions to arrive on their own.
- You need a web version.
- You want to bring your history from a CSV, XLS or OFX file.
Frequently asked questions
Is Wallet free?
Its site says it has a free plan for logging by hand and a Premium plan for automation such as bank syncing. Premium is monthly, yearly or lifetime, and prices show in the app. In Kesef, logging, groups, instalments and recurring expenses are free, and Kesef Pro costs USD 5 per month, USD 35 per year or USD 100 for life.
Does Wallet connect to banks in Argentina?
Its site says it connects to 15,000+ institutions worldwide with Premium, but it doesn't publish the list by country, so we don't state it: search for your bank in the app. Kesef doesn't connect to banks; it logs Mercado Pago and Apple Pay payments on its own, with Kesef Pro.
Does Wallet read receipts or card statements?
Its help centre says it has no automatic reading (OCR) of statements or other documents; it does import CSV, XLS or OFX files. Kesef reads a receipt photo, a screenshot or your card statement: 3 free image uploads in total, and unlimited and PDF with Kesef Pro.
Does Wallet work for sharing expenses as a couple?
It has Group Sharing, which is Premium for whoever creates the group: they share their accounts with invitees, who don't need Premium. It isn't on the web version. In Kesef the group is free for both of you and each expense is split, with the balance of who owes whom.
Do both work with Apple Pay?
Yes, both use a Shortcuts automation on iPhone so each Apple Pay payment logs itself. In Kesef it's part of Kesef Pro and works on iOS 17 or later; Wallet's help centre doesn't say whether it's part of Premium.
