Yes. You upload the statement as a PDF, with Kesef Pro, or take a photo or a screenshot of it, and Kesef builds one transaction per purchase, tax or fee, with its date, merchant and category. It skips the statement payment and, for each purchase in instalments, also adds the remaining ones in the months ahead. You review everything before saving.
If you stopped logging halfway through the month, your card statement has everything you missed. Copying it line by line is an hour nobody has. Since version 2.6.0, Kesef reads the whole thing and leaves the month logged for you to review, with the instalments spread across the months ahead.
A month of card spending, in a minute
Tap «+», choose Upload file and find the PDF you downloaded from online banking (on iPhone, in Files). You can also share it to Kesef from whatever app it's in. Kesef reads the document and builds one transaction per line you were charged for: purchases, direct debits, and also taxes and fees that appear on a line of their own.
Anything that isn't a transaction stays out: the previous balance, the total due, the minimum payment, limits, rates and financing offers. And it strips the prefix statements add to the merchant: «MERPAGO*DISCO» is logged as Disco and «DLO*SPOTIFY» as Spotify.
Instalments, with the ones still to come
On a statement, a purchase in instalments is a line like «C.03/06» or «Cuota 3/6». Kesef recognises it: it adds that instalment and creates the remaining ones, 4 to 6, in the months ahead. In the review, that transaction's card says «Installment 3 of 6 · and the rest»; tap it and it switches to «only this one» and adds just that one.
Statements print the date of the original purchase next to the instalment. Kesef moves it to the instalment's month, so the third instalment of something you bought in July lands in September and not in July, and next month's statement recognises it as already logged.
If that instalment was already logged, by hand or because you uploaded last month's statement, it starts on «only this one», so the plan isn't duplicated, and it warns «Looks like it's already added» so you can remove it.
- Credit card instalments, spread across the monthsHow Kesef spreads instalments by month and when it reminds you of each one.
- Payment calendar: what you spent and what's coming, day by dayThe calendar, with upcoming instalments already projected.
What isn't added
- The statement payment and transfers between your own accounts: the expenses were the purchases, not the payment. Kesef tells you «…wasn't added: it's a transfer between your accounts».
- Declined or cancelled payments.
- Nothing you already logged is deleted or overwritten: if a transaction has the same amount and currency as one up to 3 days before or after, it warns «Looks like it's already added» and you decide.
If you have Mercado Pago linked, that duplicate warning is what stops you counting twice a payment the integration already brought in.
Pesos and dollars
Kesef takes each amount with the currency printed on it. If the statement has a dollar column, those lines come in as dollars and are converted like any other expense in a foreign currency. A bare «$» is taken as your account currency.
PDF, photo or screenshot
- The online banking PDF: it's part of Kesef Pro. It has to be the one the bank lets you download, with text, and weigh under 4 MB.
- A scanned PDF has no text to read, and a password-protected one can't be opened: in both cases, take a screenshot and upload the image.
- A photo or screenshot of the statement: up to 5 images at once. It uses one of the free plan's 3 image uploads, which are 3 in total; unlimited with Pro.
- Up to 100 transactions per file. If the statement is longer, it tells you it only read the first part. A long file can take up to a minute.
Which banks, and what gets sent
There's no list of banks or countries: Kesef reads what the document shows, whether it's a card statement or an account statement. That's why everything goes through the review before it's saved.
Kesef doesn't connect to your bank or your card and doesn't ask for any password: it reads the file you choose. The PDF goes to Kesef's server, which extracts the text; what goes to the artificial intelligence model is that text, not the file, along with the names of your categories and payment methods and your first name. The file isn't stored: the copies on the phone are deleted when you're done.
Frequently asked questions
Is importing my card statement free?
Reading the PDF is part of Kesef Pro, with no free tries. On the free plan you can take a photo or a screenshot of the statement, but each one uses one of the plan's 3 image uploads, in total and not per month (of up to 5 images each). After that, images are Kesef Pro too. Kesef Pro costs USD 5 per month, USD 35 per year with a 14-day trial, or USD 100 for life.
Which banks does it work with?
There's no list: Kesef reads the PDF's text or what the image shows, from any bank. Since every statement has its own layout, you review the transactions before saving.
Does it add the instalments I still have to pay?
Yes. If a line says «Cuota 3/6», it adds that instalment and creates the remaining ones in the months ahead. Tap the chip and it switches to «only this one», and if that instalment was already logged it starts that way so the plan isn't duplicated.
Is the statement payment logged as an expense?
No. The card payment and transfers between your own accounts aren't added, because the expenses were the purchases. Kesef tells you which ones it left out.
Does Kesef connect to my bank or my card?
No. It reads the file you choose and nothing else: it doesn't ask for passwords or have access to your account. Kesef's only automatic inputs are still Mercado Pago and Apple Pay.
My PDF is password-protected. Can I upload it?
A password-protected PDF can't be read, like many bank statements that open with your ID number. Open it on your phone, take a screenshot and upload the image.
What if I'd already logged some of that month's expenses?
They aren't duplicated without you knowing: if a statement line has the same amount and currency as one logged no more than 3 days apart, it warns «Looks like it's already added» and you remove it.
