Export your expenses to Excel, CSV or JSON, and import them back

Export your transactions to CSV or JSON for free (last 30 days) and to Excel with summaries on Pro. And import them from Kesef's template or a backup.

Your spending data is yours, and taking it with you shouldn't cost anything. In Kesef you export your transactions to CSV, JSON or Excel whenever you want, to run your own numbers in a spreadsheet, send them to your accountant or keep a backup. And the other way round, you import from Kesef's template or from a backup, for free.

Three formats, for three uses

  • CSV, for any spreadsheet: one row per transaction with date, type, amount, category, payment method and note.
  • Excel, to read without building anything: three sheets, with real numbers and dates. Transactions (with each one's currency and the amount in your main currency), a summary by category and another by month. The sheet names are in Spanish (Movimientos, Por categoría, Por mes).
  • JSON, as a full backup: it's the file Kesef knows how to read back.

How to export

In Profile → Export data you choose the format and the period: the last 30, 90 or 365 days, your whole history or a range with start and end dates. The file goes out through your phone's share sheet, so you can send it by email or WhatsApp, or save it to Drive, iCloud or Files.

What's free and what's Pro

Exporting the last 30 days to CSV or JSON is on the free plan: it's what you need to take your data with you or back up the month. With Kesef Pro you export any period, your whole history included, and to Excel with the summaries.

Importing: Kesef's template or a backup

Importing is free and lives in Profile → Import data. Kesef reads two things. The first is its Excel template, which you download from the same screen: it has a sheet for expenses (Gastos), one for income (Ingresos) and one with instructions (Instrucciones), and the sheet and column names have to stay exactly as they are, in Spanish. It's how you bring into Kesef what you kept in another spreadsheet, by copying it into the template. The second is a Kesef .json backup.

Before confirming you see what's going to be imported, and you choose whether it's added to what you already have (Merge) or replaces it (Replace).

Kesef doesn't import a CSV or a spreadsheet in any other format, and it has no importers from other apps: anything from outside has to go through the template.

And if what you want is not to lose anything

Exporting is for taking your data with you. To have it on more than one phone without moving files around, there's the optional account: what you log on one shows up on the others.
