# Can I make my month start on payday?

> Yes. In Profile → Month start you pick the day, and your months run from payday to payday: budgets, insights and reminders follow that period. Free.

**In short:** Yes. Tap the month on Home or go to Profile → Month start and pick the day, 1 to 31. From then on your months run from payday to payday: Budgets, Insights, reminders and widgets follow that period. Your transactions don't change, only how they're grouped, and going back to day 1 leaves everything as it was. It's free.

Almost nobody gets paid on the 1st, and a budget that starts on the 1st when you're paid on the 23rd shows the second half of one salary and the first half of the next as if they were one month. With your own period, the month is yours: from payday to the day before the next one. When a period closes, Kesef shows you what you closed it with and offers to send the leftover to a goal or carry the balance over.
