# Kesef or Money Manager: which one fits your card and instalments

> Money Manager is a one-time purchase and tracks card closing dates. Kesef syncs across phones and adds groups and Mercado Pago. Compared with sources.

Money Manager, Realbyte's app, and Kesef share something few apps handle: both spread an instalment purchase across the months ahead. From there they differ. Money Manager is a single-phone app, with double-entry bookkeeping and a paid version you buy once. Kesef syncs across devices, shares expenses in groups and logs Mercado Pago and Apple Pay payments on its own. The detail is below, with what Money Manager says on its site and help centre, and where it's better.

## The short answer

If you use a single phone, want to pay once and be done, and care about the app knowing when your card closes and when it's due, Money Manager has that.

If you want to see your expenses on more than one device, share them with your partner or friends, or have Mercado Pago payments log themselves, Kesef handles that. Instalments, groups and sync are free.

> "No data" means Money Manager's site and help centre don't say, not that it lacks the feature. The price of its Premium version isn't on its website: check the App Store or Google Play.

## The real difference: one phone, or your account

Money Manager keeps everything on the phone: its help centre says it doesn't sync between devices yet, and moving your data to another phone means making a backup and restoring it. If you use a single phone, it won't bother you.

Kesef can work without an account, with everything on the phone, and if you create one your expenses sync across your devices and with your groups. That's what lets your partner log the grocery run and both of you see the same balance.

With instalments, both do the basics the same way: you log the purchase once and each month shows its own. Money Manager adds the card's closing and due dates. Kesef adds a reminder the day before each instalment and, if you upload your card statement, also adds the remaining instalments of each purchase.

## Where Money Manager is better

- It tracks the card's closing and due dates, so each instalment lands on the right statement. Kesef doesn't have card closing or due dates yet.
- The paid version is bought once and lasts for life, with no subscription. Kesef also has a one-time lifetime purchase, USD 100, alongside monthly and yearly.
- It does double-entry bookkeeping, with savings, insurance, loans and real estate, according to its site.

If what matters most to you is following each card with its closing and due dates, on a single phone, Money Manager is a good choice.

## Choose Kesef if…

- You want to see your expenses on more than one device, or not depend on a backup when you change phones.
- You share expenses with your partner, flatmates or on a trip.
- You pay with Mercado Pago or Apple Pay and want those payments to log themselves.
- You handle pesos and dollars and don't want to enter exchange rates by hand.
- You want to load your card statement in one go, with the remaining instalments.

## Choose Money Manager if…

- You use a single phone and don't need sync.
- You want the app to know when each card closes and is due.
- You'd rather pay once and have no subscription.
- You want to track assets and debts with double-entry bookkeeping.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Money Manager a subscription?

No. Its help centre says the Premium version is a one-time purchase for life, not a monthly or yearly subscription. The price isn't on its site. Kesef Pro costs USD 5 per month or USD 35 per year, or USD 100 as a one-time lifetime purchase.

### Does Money Manager sync between devices?

Its help centre says not yet: data is moved with a backup. Kesef syncs for free across your devices and with your groups once you create an account.

### Do both handle instalments?

Yes. In both you log the purchase once and each month shows its instalment. Money Manager also takes the card's closing and due dates into account. Kesef reminds you the day before each instalment and, if you upload your statement, adds the remaining instalments of each purchase.

### Does Money Manager read receipts?

Its help centre says you can attach up to 3 photos per transaction, like the receipt, but it doesn't say it reads them. Kesef reads a receipt photo, a screenshot or your card statement and builds the transactions: 3 free image uploads in total, and unlimited and PDF with Kesef Pro.

### Can I move my Money Manager data to Kesef?

There's no automatic import from Money Manager. Kesef imports its own Excel template or a Kesef backup, so the practical route is to start in Kesef from the current month and add the instalments still to come.
